Unwaith y bydd yn yr ystafell ynysu bydd yr aelod o staff yn gwisgo PPE llawn ac yn aros nes bydd y rhieni wedi casglu’r plentyn. Rhaid i’r holl staff wrth ddod yn agosach na 2 fetr at blentyn wisgo PPE addas. Enghreifftiau o’r rhain fyddai wrth weithio ar sail un i un, wrth weinyddu cymorth cyntaf, glanhau unrhyw salwch neu ddelio ag unrhyw ddamweiniau toiled.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope you are all keeping well. I have some good news at last! We can finally outline our arrangements for KS2 children returning to school. You have probably heard the recent announcements from Welsh Government, and we now have enough information to be able to update you.

Year 3, 4, 5 a 6 Children
All pupils in year 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be returning to school in their school uniform on Monday the 15th of March 2021 in their school uniform. School meals will be available.

As a result of this, this week, blended learning activities will be reducing to two tasks a day and no live sessions on Thursday (11/3/21) and Friday (12/3/21). This will allow teachers to re-arrange their classrooms as well as support children that are still attending the hubs.

Remember that the children will need to wear their Physical Education kit on the days the Physical Education sessions are held.

Transport
The school will inform passenger transport providers that all children will be returning to school on the 15th of March 2021.

Breakfast club
Breakfast club will be available from the 15th March. Only children registered in the Autumn Term are to attend.

Ail agor Ysgolion ar Mehefin 29ain, 2020/The re-opening of schools in Wales, June 29th, 2020.

Annwyl Riant/Warcheidwad

Yn dilyn cyhoeddiad y Gweinidog Addysg, Kirsty Williams heddiw am ddyddiad ail-agor Ysgolion Cymru, hoffwn eich sicrhau y byddwn yn ystyried a chynllunio yn ofalus ar gyfer y ‘normal newydd’ cyn ail agor ar Fehefin 29ain.

Fe fydd Llywodraeth Cymru ac Awdurdod Casnewydd yn paratoi canllawiau clir ar gyfer Ysgolion dros y dyddiau nesaf ac fe fyddwn yn glynu wrth eu hargymellion wrth baratoi.

Fy mhrif flaenoriaeth wrth gynllunio ar gyfer ail-agor fydd Iechyd a lles ein disgyblion, rhieni a’n staff. Fe fyddaf yn ysgrifennu atoch gyda mwy o fanylion am ein cynllun ail-agor yn ystod yr wythnosau nesaf.

Mi ddaw pethau’n gliriach i chi ac i ni yn ystod yr wythnosau nesaf a diolchaf i chi o flaen llaw am eich cefnogaeth mewn adeg anodd a dwys i ni gyd.

Rydyn yn edrych ymlaen i weld y plantos cyn diwedd y tymor.

Dear Parent/Guardian

Following the Education Minister’s statement earlier today confirming the date for the re-opening of schools in Wales, I would like to reassure you that we will consider and plan carefully for the ‘new normal’ prior to reopening on the 29th of June.

I will await further guidance from the Welsh Government and Newport Local Authority in order to adhere to their recommendations.

My main consideration will be the wellbeing and safety of pupils, parents and staff. I will keep in touch over the coming weeks to update and advise you of our plans for re-opening.

Things will become clearer to us all over the next weeks and I thank you in advance for your support during this very difficult and intense time.

We look forward to seeing the children before the end of term.

Cofion cynnes

Llythyr Mis Mai 2020/May 2020 Letter

Annwyl Rieni / Warchodwyr,

Yn sicr nid dyma’r ffordd roeddwn i erioed wedi meddwl y byddai’n rhaid i ni ddechrau tymor newydd, ac rwy’n gwerthfawrogi ei fod hefyd ymhell o fod yn ddelfrydol. Gobeithio eich bod wedi llwyddo i gael rhyw fath o wyliau’r Pasg, er fy mod yn siŵr ei fod yn wahanol iawn i’r hyn a gynlluniwyd yn wreiddiol. Gobeithio ei fod wedi bod yn dawel a digynnwrf gyda digon o siocled ac amser ymlacio!

Rwyf yn gwybod bod sawl un ohonoch yn gofidio. Mae ceisio trefnu gwaith, gofal plant, cyflog mis nesaf a phroblemau iechyd yn anodd. Mae gennych blant ifanc i’w diddori a phlant hyn i geisio cael allan o’r gwely. Rydych yn poeni am berthnasau hŷn yn ogystal. Yna ar ben y cwbl mae yr holl newyddion dyddiol, diweddariadau, cyhoeddiadau cyfryngau cymdeithasol a negeseuon oddi wrtha i.

Rhaid i chi gofio nad ydym yn bwriadu i chi redeg Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Teyrnon o’ch cartref. Pan mae’r disgyblion yn dod i’r ysgol maent yn mynd i gofrestru, gwasanaeth, gwersi, egwyl, cinio ac yn y blaen. Yn ystod eu gwersi maent yn gwneud gwaith pâr a gwaith grwp, gwaith trafod a gwaith creadigol o bob math. Maent yn gofyn am gyngor o’u hathrawon ac weithiau yn gweithio’n dawel yn unigol. Nid yw’n bosibl i unrhyw blentyn gael yr un drefn yn y cartref ac nid oes disgwyl i chi wneud hynny.

Rhai pethau a allai fod o gymorth:

  • Ceisiwch gadw at ryw fath o drefn – gan godi a mynd i’r gwely tua’r un amser ag arfer.
  • Cymerwch seibiannau rheolaidd a cheisiwch sicrhau bod eich plentyn yn cael rhywfaint o awyr iach yn ystod y dydd, os yw hyn yn bosibl.
  • Peidiwch â disgwyl i’ch plentyn allu gweithio am oriau ar y tro – yn yr ysgol mae yna ‘seibiant’ a newid rhwng gwersi.
  • Yn ystod gwersi, mae disgyblion yn derbyn cyflwyniadau dosbarth cyfan gan yr athro / grwpiau. Y prif beth y gallant ei wneud gartref yw gwaith unigol, tawel a gall dwyster hyn olygu y gallant lwyddo gwneud awr neu ddwy’r dydd (os hynny). Mae hyn yn iawn.

Mae’n bwysig yng nghanol yr holl ddigwyddiadau yma, nad ydych chi’n poeni am addysg eich plentyn ac am Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Teyrnon.  Mae’r ysgol yma i’ch cefnogi chi a’ch plant. Bydd Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Teyrnon yn dal yma ar ôl i’r cyfnod rhyfedd yma ddod i ben.  Rydym hefyd yn gwybod eich bod yn gorfod ymdopi gyda gwahanol gyfrifoldebau ar hyn o bryd; mae rhai ohonoch chi’n gweithio i’r GIG, mae rhai yn weithwyr allweddol, mae rhai’n gweithio gartref, bydd rhai’n gofalu am eraill ac efallai na fydd rhai ohonoch yn iach. Yn sicr, mae ceisio addysgu eich plentyn gartref yn ychwanegol at hyn i gyd yn gymhlethdod a allai wneud pethau’n anodd. Rydyn ni’n deall hyn ac rydyn ni’n gwybod eich bod chi’n gwneud eich gorau; a fydd yn fwy na digon da. Fe fydd rhai disgyblion yn gweld y gwaith sy’n cael ei osod yn anodd iawn heb fewnbwn gan athrawon neu ffrindiau. Yr unig beth ni’n ei ofyn yw eu bod yn ceisio gwneud eu gorau. Mae’n bwysig bod eich plentyn yn ceisio gwneud y dasg er mwyn adeiladu annibyniaeth ond nid yw’n broblem os nad ydynt yn medru gorffen y dasg bob tro neu ddim yn ei ddeall.

Fe fydd sicrhau bod y gwersi yn parhau yn ystod yr wythnosau nesaf yn sicr yn her i ni ac i chithau. Mae rhai rhieni yn awyddus bod y plant yn cael mwy o waith ac eraill yn dymuno llai. Bydd rhaid i chi fod yn amyneddgar gyda ni wrth i ni dreialu syniadau. Mae’n bwysig iawn bod blwyddyn 6 yn parhau gyda’r gwaith pontio ac fe fydd mwy o wybodaeth i ddilyn am hyn ar eich ardal Google Classroom.

Themâu Ysgol Gyfan – Yn dilyn trafodaethau âg amrywiol randdeiliaid (rhieni a staff) byddwn yn ceisio creu themâu ysgol gyfan er mwyn lleihau’r heriau rydych chi’n eu hwynebu gartref. Thema wythnos nesaf yw un yr oeddem yn gobeithio ei wireddu o fewn yr ysgol wrth baratoi ar gyfer dathliadau VE ar 8/5/20. Ein thema yw “Gadewch i Ni Ddiolch a Dathlu”. Bydd yr athrawon i gyd ar Google Classroom ac ar gael yn ystod oriau ysgol i osod gwaith, ateb cwestiynau am y gwaith, a rhoi cymaint o adborth a sylwadau ag sy’n ymarferol bosibl. Cofiwch ddefnyddio platfform Google Classroom i gadw mewn cysylltiad â’r athrawon dosbarth i ddarparu cefnogaeth gyda thasgau a heriau eraill y gallech eu hwynebu. Fe wnawn ein gorau i gydweithio gyda chi a’r disgyblion er mwyn sicrhau yr addysg orau posibl o dan yr amgylchiadau. Mae’n bwysig iawn bod cyfathrebu clir rhyngddom ni gyd.

Rwyf am eich sicrhau, yn ystod yr wythnosau nesaf y bydd hi dal yn bosibl i chi gysylltu gyda’r ysgol yn ystod diwrnod gwaith trwy ebost y swyddfa (ysgol.gymraegbroteyrnon@newport.gov.uk) bydd eich ceisiadau yn cael eu trosglwyddo i’r person perthnasol.

Nosweithiau Rhieni – Oherwydd roedd rhaid i ni ohurio’r nosweithiau fe fydd yr athrawon dosbarth yn cysylltu gyda chi yn ystod yr wythnos nesaf i ddathlu cynnydd eich plentyn ac hefyd pethau i ddatblygu ‘mhellach. Fe fydd rhai yn ffonio ar ffôn yr ygsol ac fe fydd rhai yn ffonio o ffonau eraill ac fe fydd rhif “unknown” yn ymddangos ar eich ffôn. Yn dilyn y galwadau ffôn fe fydd y staff yn danfon neges breifat at eich plentyn ar Hangouts yn amlinellu beth sydd angen iddynt ganolbwyntio ar o ran eu taregdau personol.

Dysgwyr ADY – Yn ystod yr wythnos nesaf fe fyddwn yn ebostio cynlluniau unigol dysgwyr fe fyddwn hefyd yn danfon cyfrinair i ganiatâu i chi agor yr atodiad. Fe fydd hyn yn diogelu’r cynnwys.

Hangouts – Mae rhai plant wedi creu grwpiau eu hunain ac fel y soniwyd eisioes wrthoch chi fel rhieni mae angen monitro hyn. Rydym wedi cynghori plant i beidio â chreu grwpiau eu hunain. Dear Parents/Guardians,

This is certainly not the way I thought we would ever have to begin a new term and I appreciate that it is also far from ideal. I hope that you have managed to have some kind of Easter break, although I am sure it was very different from what was originally planned. Hopefully it has been restful and calm with plenty of chocolate and relaxing ‘down time’.

I know that many of you are worried. Your logistics regarding work, childcare, key worker status, shift work, freelance work and next month’s salary is a constant worry. Some of you also have health worries and are worried about elderly relatives. You have small children to entertain and teenagers to get out of bed. And then we all have the daily barrage of news, updates, non-stop notifications and nonsense on social media to add to the mix.

You have got to remember that we don’t expect you to run Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Teyrnon from your kitchen. When pupils spend their day at school they go to registration, assembly, lessons, have a break, have lunch and play on the yard. During their usual lessons they do pair work, group work, they have class discussions and debates. They seek advice from their teachers and sometimes work in silence on individual tasks. It is not possible for any child to have the same routine at home and we do not expect them to.

Some things which might help:

  • Try to keep to some kind of routine – getting up and going to bed at around the same time as usual.
  • Take regular breaks and try to make sure your child gets some fresh air during the day, if this is possible.
  • Don’t expect your child to be able to work for hours at a time – in school they have a ‘break’ and a change every hour between lessons.
  • During lessons, pupils have whole class presentations by the teacher. The main thing they can do at home is individual, quiet work and the intensity of this may mean that they can manage an hour or two a day (if that). This is fine.

One thing we do not want you to be worried about is your child’s education and Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Teyrnon school. We are here to support you and your family. Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Teyrnon will be here for your children when these very strange times come to an end. We are not going anywhere. We also know that you are juggling different responsibilities at the moment; some of you work for the NHS, some are key workers, some work from home, some will be caring for others and some of you may be unwell. Trying to home school your child in addition to all of this is certainly a complication that may make things difficult. We understand this and we know that you are doing your best; which will be more than good enough. Some pupils will struggle with some aspects of the work without the input from their teachers and peers. They need to do what is possible. It is important for your child to attempt any tasks, in order to build up some resilience and independence. Ask them to try and do not worry if they cannot finish the task.

Ensuring that the work continues during the next week will certainly be a challenge for us as teachers and you as parents. Some parents may want more work for their children and others will want less. You will have to be patient as we trial ideas. Year 6 pupils should be well into the transition activities and more information to follow on this on their class Google Classroom platform.

Whole School Themes – Following discussions with various stakeholders (parents and staff) we will try to create whole school themes in order to minimise the challenges you face at home. Next Week’s theme one we were hoping to realise within the school in preparation for the VE celebrations on the 8/5/20. Our theme is “Let’s Give Thanks and Celebrate”. The teachers will all be on Google Classroom and available during school hours to set work, answer work related questions and give as much commentary and feedback as is practically possible. Remember to use the Google Classroom platform to keep in contact with the class teachers to provide support with tasks and other challenges you may be faced with.

I also realise that many of you as parents are concerned that you do not speak Welsh. When you made the decision, many moons ago, to educate your child through the medium of Welsh, you hardly thought that one day your child would be educated in Welsh from your kitchen or lounge, due to a pandemic lockdown, with you having to navigate the intricacies of a Welsh-medium curriculum. I can assure you that you do not need to worry. We will try to keep tasks as straightforward as possible. It’s essential, however, that you ensure that your children have as much contact as possible with the Welsh language while they are away from school. You could help by encouraging them to engage in informal activities online. Please encourage them to stay in close contact with the Welsh language to build their confidence.

I wish to confirm, over the next few weeks it will still be possible for you to contact the school during the working day via the office email ( ysgol.gymraegbroteyrnon) and your messages or queries will be passed on to the relevant person.

Parents’ Evenings – Because we had to postpone the parents’ evenings the class teachers will contact you over the next week to celebrate your child’s progress and also communicate things to develop further. Some will ring on the school phone and some will ring from other phones and an “unknown” number will appear on your phone. Following the telephone call the staff will send a private message to your child on Hangouts which will highlight what they need to focus on with regards to their targets.

ALN Learners – During the next week we will email learners’ individual plans and we will also send you a password to allow you to open the attachment. This will protect the content and keep it confidential.

Hangouts – Some children have created their own groups and as mentioned before you as parents need to monitor this. We have advised children not to create their own groups. They can do this on many platforms but the key message is “be kind” when talking to others. Here is a link to an useful website giving advice on how to keep your child safe online during this difficult time.

When you arrive at school, please contact one of the caretakers on the following numbers (which are also on the door of the school) to arrange access and collection. 07739970541 or 07718200842.

We will do our best to work with you and the pupils to ensure we give them the best possible education under the circumstances. It is very important that there is clear communication between us all.
May I wish you a good weekend as we look forward positively to the challenge of the next few weeks.

I leave you with a very purposeful quote we used for our Carnival celebrations last year. ‘Together may we give our children the roots to grow and wings to fly’

Stay safe,
